Windfall was founded in 1991 to assist homeless and emergency shelters meet their clients' needs for new clothing. Windfall is an award winning, registered charity that receives donations of NEW CLOTHING and BASIC-NEEDS items and distributes them to 90 partner social service agencies in the Greater Toronto Area.

This is an integral and crucial social service – new, clean clothes and other basic needs items for our most vulnerable citizens. New basic needs items assist a person in despair to feel better, fosters a sense of belonging, opens doors to employment, independence and a better life. The effects on a person's sense of pride, importance, self-esteem and self-worth are immediate.

Windfall has grown rapidly in response to the growing needs of our partner agencies, which include: shelters for homeless women, children and men; shelters for abused women and their children; reception centres for refugees; transitional and supportive housing for psychiatric patients and disabled people; community centres; job training and placement programs. In 1993, we collected and distributed 28,000 pieces of new clothing. Last year, Windfall collected over 245,000 pieces of new items - valued at over $10 million, retail to over 65,000 needy Torontonians!
